Several homes down along the Wood Street area of Riverside were showcasing waterwise gardening. The homeowners along with certain experts were on hand at each home to answer questions about irrigation to cacti to composting. It was a gorgeous day but it was a little further walking that I expected and I wore the wrong shoes.

The Garden, Installment 2

The garden is doing fabulous and Logan and Gage are getting more involved now that there are potted plants out there that need their daily watering. They fight over who gets to water which pots and are always on the lookout for our hummingbirds that enjoy our feeder.

An Adventure Day with Mommy

My dad started the tradition of taking my sis and I out for adventure days and I am starting to carry on the tradition with my boys. We went down to Roger's Gardens in Corona del Mar and then went to eat lunch at the beach. It was horribly cold and rainy but the boys loved it and I loved having the time with them.

How does your garden grow?

With a lot of back breaking labor...
I did not do anything with my vegetable garden last year due to it just being a hectic spring with Logan playing baseball for the first time and trying to potty train Gage. Needless to say, the garden turned into a horrible weed patch. I have spent the last several weekends (when it wasn't raining) cleaning it up and preparing it for this season's plantings. I am trying to be proactive this year and laid down landscaping weed barrier as well as pea gravel. I will be planting my little veggies here within the next week. The boys are super excited about helping with the planting and watching everything grow.

Christian Athletic League Opening Ceremonies

Both boys are playing t-ball this year and we are fortunate that they honored our request to have them on the same team. The ceremonies had been postponed due to some rather crazy weather and it turned out to be a gorgeous, albeit a little windy, day. I got fried...

Since we went to the museum for Logan's birthday, we had a low key party at the house with the family. Logan purchased a new Razr scooter with his birthday money from Grandma and Grandpa Jaszcar and Great Grandma Merrow.

Los Angeles Museum of Natural History

I got out of preparing for a birthday party for Logan this year by asking him if he would like to go and see dinosaur bones. We took Carissa and Brandon along for the afternoon and really enjoyed ourselves.

Surf City 5K in Huntington Beach

To push myself to get more active, I signed up for a 5k (3.1 mile) walk in Huntington Beach on Superbowl Sunday. My girlfriend Michelle signed up with me. We drove down on Saturday to arrive in the pouring rain to pick up our jerseys. We got soaked!! Fortunately, we stayed in a hotel that had washers and dryers so we were able to dry our jeans and jackets.
We woke up to a beautiful Sunday and the energy at the race was thrilling. The 5K race started after all of the marathon runners went through and then we were off. Michelle and I started in the last wave of people and we walked. By the end, my ankle was in a lot of pain and it was hard to make it through (I had injured my ankle 11 years ago and now have scar tissue built up around the ankle bone) but I am very proud to say that I did it!
Here are my statistics:
Overall: 2301 out of 2494
Women: 1490 out of 1636
F 35-39: 219 out of 233
Age/Grade: 27.66% Place: 2361
Finish: 54:33 Pace: 17:34
Tag Time: 54:33
Gun Time: 1:06:08
I was really happy to have done it in under an hour.
